Vester David Harris

Vester D. Harris of Bel Air, MD passed away March 28, 2017 at home. He was 81 years old.

Born in Sylva, NC he was the son of the late Vernon Harris and Marie (Hall) Harris. He was predeceased by two sisters. He graduated from Sylva High School where he played football for the Sylva Golden Hurricanes. He served in the Air Force from 1955-1964. He then worked at Armco Steel retiring with 30 years' service. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and was an avid Orioles and Ravens fan. He was a faithful member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church for over 50 years.

Mr. Harris is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joyce (Kinsland) Harris; his children, Renee Kelley, Debra Knott (Mike), Lorrie Brown (Sam), Faye Belcher (Bob) and Steve Harris; his three grandchildren Matthew and Jeremy Caughron, and Seth Harris; and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Union Chapel United Methodist Church, 1012 Old Joppa Road, Joppa, MD 21085 in memory of Vester D. Harris.
