VERNON LOUIS GAUSS, SR., formerly of Baltimore, died July 2, 2005 at his home in Port Richey, Florida. He was 77,
He married Mae Agnes Hardesty; upon her death, he married Francis Walsh.
He was employed with George R. Hardesty, Inc. of Erdman Avenue and Burgemeister and Bell, Inc. of Owings Mills. In 1972, he opened his own plumbing and heating company, Vernon L. Gauss, Inc.
He was a member of the Homebuilders Assn. of Maryland, the National Assoc. of Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Contractors, Maryland Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Contractors, Masonic Lodge, and Tall Cedars of Lebanon before his retirement to Florida in 1988. In Florida, he served as an active member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Gauss is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Vernon, Jr. of Kingsville and Kurt B. of Westminster; daughter, Denise Mae Molloy of Baltimore; step-daughters, Sheila Dixon of Naples, Florida, Sharon Walsh of Hunt Valley, Candace Kay of East Berlin, PA, Sherry Holland of Hagerstown and stepson Wayne Criswell of Baltimore; granddaughters, Michelle Mae Kling of Havre de Grace, Pam Gauss of Abingdon, Molly Molloy of Baltimore; grandsons, Justin and Chad Gauss of Baltimore; five step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and two of 12 siblings, Doris Burkman and Dawn Jensen, both of Glen Burnie.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Stephens Episcopal Church, New Port Richey, Florida and should be sent to Vernon L. Gauss, P.O. Box 203, Joppa, Maryland 21085.
