Vernon Lee DeHaven, a cherished resident of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on March 18, 2024, at the age of 66. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the beloved son of the late Ruth (Guthlein) Wissman. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Vernon has been with the ARC since 1998. He was the esteemed Chairman of the Board for People First, where his leadership and advocacy touched countless lives. 

Beyond his professional endeavors, Vernon was an avid sports enthusiast, particularly known for his fervent support of the Baltimore Ravens. His collection of signed memorabilia from the team was a testament to his deep-rooted passion for the sport.

In his leisure time, Vernon found joy and relaxation in solving puzzles, watching game shows like Price is Right, engaging in board games, and relishing in conversations with family over the phone. Fridays held a special place in his heart as he eagerly anticipated lunch gatherings with his dear friend Greg, cherishing the moments of camaraderie and laughter shared between them. 

Vernon had a sweet tooth that was well-known to those close to him; he had an undeniable love for chocolate and chocolate chip cookies, making dessert a cherished part of his daily routine. 

Vernon is survived by his loving sisters, Nancy (Bob) Catanzaro, Barbara Scaminaci, Margie DeHaven, and; nephews, Jonathan Hanson, Bobby Catanzaro, James Scaminaci; nieces, Jaime Catanzaro, Ashley Catanzaro, Juliana Scaminaci, Taylor Homer; his cherished best friend, Gregory; and a multitude of friends he made during his time at The ARC of Northern Chesapeake. Contributions in Vernon's honor may be made to the ARC Northern Chesapeake Region, a cause that was near and dear to his heart. 

May Vernon Lee DeHaven's legacy of kindness, dedication, and love continue to inspire us all. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
