Verna M. Sonntag

Verna Mae Parsons Sonntag, 97, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 13, 2011. Verna Mae was born on September 28, 1913 in Hopewell, Virginia to Alvin Parsons and Nancy Elizabeth Leasure Parsons. She graduated from Hyattsville High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. She married Clarence Sonntag on February 22, 1946 and together they shared 57 years of marriage. She has resided in Murkirk Maryland, St. Petersburg Florida, Joppa Maryland and Dundalk Maryland. She was a very active member of her church and taught Sunday school all her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Sonntag; one sister, Alice Ruth Parsons Sonntag; one brother, Rev. Marshall Wayne Parsons and wife, Frances; one grandson, Noel Robert Thomas; and one great grandson John Robert Sonntag. She leaves behind one son, Herbert Alvin Sonntag and wife, Barbara; one daughter Sylvia Marie Eddings and husband, Dana; eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Nancy McClain and Mary Brown.
