Tom Schwartz, age 74, of Bel Air, MD, went home to his Savior on July 1, 2012 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD surrounded by family and friends – "PRAISE GOD". Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Walter Thomas and Rosalie Stoney Schwartz. A 6 year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he worked as a police officer and also for the Secret Service which involved security for both Carter and Reagan at which time President Reagan offered him jelly beans from his pocket . He was also in charge of security at Johns Hopkins for several years. You never said to him "ex-Marine" as he believed once a Marine, always a Marine…OOH-RAH! He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, which is where he married his wife Fran. She had moved into H.S.H. in 2006 and ten months later Tom moved down the hall and they met in the laundry/pool room. He inquired about her and the rest is history. They were married in 2008, a God planned event after two years of grieving over the loss of his two daughters and wife. He then gained a wife, two daughters, and lots of loved ones who cared deeply for him. He was an excellent father, husband, friend and brother. He and Fran loved to fish even though they never caught anything. They also played pool, cards and enjoyed trips to Ocean City. He spent time with his pals at the McFaul Senior Center, loved sharing times with his family and friends and was "so easy" when asked by his wife to make goofy pictures of himself.
Mr. Schwartz is survived by his wife of three years, Frances "Fran" Schwartz of Bel Air, MD; son, Scott Schwartz of Salisbury, MD; daughters, Becky Schor and husband, Paul, of Red Lion, PA and Theresa Mahan and husband, Mark, of Madonna, MD; brother, Dennis Schwartz of Dublin, MD; and four grandchildren, Mark Mahan Jr., Jake Mahan, Alex Schor, and Cooper Schor.
