Tom Ryan

THOMAS BERNARD RYAN, age 64, of Havre de Grace, died at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on June 5, 2006.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on March 16, 1942, he was the son of Lillian Kiemer Ryan of Abingdon, MD and the late Richard C. Ryan.

A resident of Harford County for 60 years, Mr. Ryan graduated from Edgewood High School in 1960, attended University of Maryland and Harford Junior College and was president of Delta Phi Omega Fraternity. He served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was president of Ryan Furniture Company in Havre de Grace. He was former president of the Maryland Home Furniture Association, was a member of the board of the American Red Cross, and was a member of the Moose Lodge. A Commodore of the Bush River Yacht Club in 1991, he and his father are the only father and son Commodores to serve in the club’s history. He was an avid boater and loved being on the bay on his boat the Irish Splash. A natural athlete, he lettered and excelled in a number of high school sports and enjoyed golf and water skiing. Mr. Ryan was a wonderful father and friend and will be missed by all those who knew him.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Ryan is survived by two daughters, Raquel R. Petroski and her husband, Josh J. Petroski, of Cockeysville, and Laura K. Ryan of Edgewood; a brother, James M. Ryan of Havre de Grace; and his loving companion, Vickey Hey of Havre de Grace. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a daughter, Robin D. Ryan.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Abingdon on Friday, June 9 at 10 a.m. with Msgr. Thomas L. Phillips officiating.
