Timothy P. Newnan Sr. of Bel Air, MD died at the age of 70 on June 25, 2016 at Gilchrist Hospice Center in Towson, MD. He was born in Baltimore, MD to Herman Rothert Newnan and Jane Elizabeth (Annen) Newnan and was the husband of the late Roberta K. Newnan. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served our country during the Vietnam War. He attended St. Mary's Episcopal Church and loved reading, traveling and engaging people in thoughful conversation. He worked as a Licensed Clinical Alcohol/Drug Counselor, and over 30 years ago, founded TRW (Together Recovery Works) Associates, dedicating his life to helping individuals overcome addiction. An author of several books on addictions counseling and substance abuse; he was also a professional trainer and public speaker on addiction problems for civic, church and other organizations. He served on a number of County, State and non-profit boards and committees and was a member and past chair of the Harford County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council. He was recognized for his work in the field of substance abuse treatment with a Governor's citation.
Survivors include his daughter Jennifer A. McIntire of Bel Air; his brother John Andrew Newnan (Kathleen) of Mt. Airy; his sister E. Virginia Courtney (Ralph) of Abingdon; and his grandchildren Timothy Kelly of Kentucky, Michael and Christopher McIntire both of Port Deposit. In addition to his parents and wife he was predeceased by his son Timothy P. Newnan Jr.
