Timothy "Chief" Deptol

November 28, 1964 — May 9, 2024

In loving memory of Tim "Chief" Deptol, who passed away peacefully at his home in Edgewood, Maryland, on May 9, 2024, at the age of 59. Born in Seoul, Korea, Timmy was the cherished son of Ken Deptol and the late Maria (Chung) Deptol.
Tim, affectionately known as "Chief," was a proud graduate of Edgewood High School. He had a long-distinguished career in the HVAC business and more recently with Amtrak Railroad. However, it was in the kitchen where Tim truly found his passion. Cooking was not merely a hobby for him; it was a way for him to share his love with family and friends by cooking for them. Tim was a loving son taking his dad to the casino most weekends for a little outing.
Tim’s love of food went hand-in-hand with his love of a good time. He was always the center of attention at any gathering and will be remembered for always being the first with a joke or prank whether in the truck at Blue Dot or co-workers at Amtrak.
Tim's love for sports was evident. He loved his Steelers. Throughout his high school years, Tim excelled on the football field and was a member of the undefeated 1983 Edgewood Rams team. He also played as running back for Harford Community College and helped take that team to the National Junior College Championship in 1984. Tim was an even better lacrosse player helping the 1983 Edgewood Rams win the state championship. Tim made friends quickly and kept them for life. And his longest friend Tom will miss him the most.
Tim’s proudest joy were his children. The day Cyrus arrived was one of the best in his life. And, then he was lucky enough to have a beautiful daughter, Kaitey, which he adored. Cy and Tim loved playing basketball and being outdoors together.
Tim leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by devoted father Ken Deptol, his beloved son, (Vincent) Cyrus Deptol; devoted brother, Tom Deptol; adoring daughter, Kaitey Maria Deptol; caring niece, Laura Deptol; and doting nephew, Ryan Deptol. Though he may no longer be with us in person, Tim's spirit and love a good time will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Tim's memory may contribute to the American Cancer Society at 405 Williams Court Suite 120, Baltimore, MD 21220.
A Celebration of Life for Tim will be held in the coming weeks so we can all get together and share those fun memories of Tim.
Tim "Chief" Deptol will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May he rest in eternal peace.
