Thomas L. Watchinsky, Sr., 82, of Joppa, Maryland, passed away on March 30, 2025, at Franklin Square Hospital in Rosedale, Maryland.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Samuel and Mabel (Williams) Watchinsky and the loving husband of the late Ethel Charlene Watchinsky.
Thomas proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He was also a dedicated member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Alumni Association of Johns Hopkins University.
A graduate of Johns Hopkins University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Thomas enjoyed a long and successful career as a civil engineer. He worked for 35 years at Century Engineering and Whitney Bailey Cox & Magnani before founding his own engineering firm, Leeward Engineering, LLC.
Outside of his professional life, Thomas had many passions. He was an avid reader, with a particular love for Civil War history. He enjoyed spending time participating in trap and skeet shooting. His keen interest in history and engineering was always evident in his thoughtful conversations and pursuits.
Thomas is survived by his sons, Greg Watchinsky, and Thomas L. (Beverly) Watchinsky, Jr; granddaughter, Amelia Watchinsky; grandson, Adam Watchinsky; and brother, George Watchinsky.
