Thomas Scott (Bubba) Stanford

Thomas Scott (Bubba) Stanford, age 55, of Edgewood, MD, passed away on October 11, 2013 at his home. Born in Savannah, GA, he is the son of Charlotte Frances Fink Stanford of Abingdon and the late Walter Grady Stanford. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he retired after 29 ½ years of service with the Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire Department where he received the Department of the Army Heroism Award for his service as a firefighter. He had a great sense of humor and loved working with the firefighters and emergency response personnel at APG. He was also a past Assistant Chief with the Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company. A loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed gardening, home improvements and helping others any time he could.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Stanford is survived by his wife, Holly Alison Stanford; sons, Walter Grady Stanford and wife, Sheryl, and Scott Andrew Stanford and wife, Amanda, all of Edgewood; daughters, Juliette Heather Howard and husband, Brian, of Belcamp and Danielle Marie Hawkins of Bel Air; brother, Walter Michael Stanford and wife, Donna, of Abingdon; sisters, Dawn Caplis and husband, Tom, of Grass Lakes, MI, Doris Stanford, Frances Haslup and husband, Mike, and Kimberly Whalon and husband, Jim, all of Abingdon, and Dolores Ward and husband, Mike of Baltimore; grandchildren, Alissa and Brianna Howard and Walter Grady Stanford Jr.; and many nieces, nephews and godchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire Department.
