Thomas Charles Holden, age 83, of Forest Hill, Maryland, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Paul and Genevieve (Farmer) Holden. He was the beloved husband of 62 years to Dolores Holden.
Throughout his life, Thomas was a dedicated family man and an avid outdoorsman. He was a former member of the Marco Hunting and Fishing Club in Middle River and a former parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Pylesville. He had a long and fulfilling career with Gulf Oil, formerly known as C. Hoffberger, where he proudly earned his 25-year service pin. In addition, he was an associate member of the Jarrettsville VFW.
An enthusiastic boater and fisherman, Thomas spent countless hours on the water, enjoying shark hunting, fishing, and crabbing. He also found great joy in camping and cultivating his vegetable garden. Thomas was known for his love of steamed crabs and his deep connection to family. Above all, he adored being a “Poppy” and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.
A passionate Baltimore Ravens fan, Thomas will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty to his team, his adventurous spirit, and his kind heart.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores Holden, as well as his children, grandchildren, and many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
In addition to his wife Thomas is survived by his sons, Michael Holden, and Steven (Tammy) Holden; daughter, Deborah (Scott) Simmons; grandchildren, Heather, David, Brian, Stacey, Thomas, Jessica, Joshua, Christopher, Zachary, Scotty, and Sierra; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Camilla, Clayton, Guinevere, Landon, Madison, Mason, Noah, and Rowan; brother, Wayne Holden; and sister, Patricia Kearns.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald, Alfred, and Daniel Holden, and great grandchild, Blake.
