Thomas A. Tyler, age 82, of Bel Air, MD passed away on September 10, 2012 at Brightview Assisted Living in Bel Air, MD. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served our country during the Korean War. A 1949 graduate of Bel Air High School, he worked for Walter Tharp Plumbing in Harford County and later for Baltimore Gas and Electric as a Steamfitter from where he retired. He was proud to have played for the Big Red Football team for the town of Bel Air which was coached by Al Cesky. A member of the American Legion in Bel Air, he also volunteered at the Harford County Farm Fair, enjoyed Ornamental Metal Work, attending Steam Engine shows and working in the yard and caring for his property in northern Harford County.
Mr. Tyler is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cheryl Martin Tyler of Bel Air, MD; sons, Thomas Jeffrey Tyler of Rising Sun, MD and Christopher Wade Martin Tyler of Bel Air, MD; daughter, Cynthia Susan Umbarger of Churchville, MD; brothers, Joseph Saleski of Hatfield, PA and Larry Saleski of Coal Township, PA; sister, Mildred Mae Permar of Coal Township, PA; and grandchildren, Brooke Elizabeth and Emily Morgan Tyler. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by first wife, Nancy Jean Scarborough; brother, Jessie James Tyler; and sister, Jeanette Tyler Dickey.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Christ Our King Presbyterian Church, 10 Lexington Road, Bel Air, MD 21014.
