Theodore J. ''Ted'' Chizmar

Theodore J. "Ted" Chizmar, age 85, of Bel Air, MD, died on February 4, 2011 at his home. Born in Aliquippa, PA, he was the son of the late John and Julia Palai Chizmar. He graduated from Aliquippa High School and attended Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, WV, where he was inducted into both of their Halls of Fame for Basketball. He retired, after 30 years, from Harford County Public Schools where he was a teacher at North Harford High School. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, Bel Air Lions Club, American Legion Post #39 in Bel Air, and was on the Bel Air Appearance & Preservation Committee. He also volunteered as a coach of baseball and basketball, for Harford County Parks and Rec. He enjoyed horse racing and going to Atlantic City casinos.

Mr. Chizmar is survived by his wife of 32 years, Patricia Elizabeth (Hellman) Chizmar of Bel Air, MD; sons, Dr. Paul D. Chizmar and wife, Cheryl, and Steven T. Chizmar and wife, Karen, all of Bel Air, MD; stepdaughter, Lisa S. Sparr of Bel Air, MD; sister, Helen Montoro of Carthage, NC; and nine grandchildren, Dr. Tim Chizmar, Ashley, Maggie, Eric, and Kate Chizmar, and Ben, Luke, Jacob, and Owen Sparr. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Mariniello Chizmar; son, Gary A. Chizmar; and brothers, William and Edward Chizmar.

Pallbearers were Tim P. Chizmar, M.D., Ashley M. Chizmar, Maggie K. Chizmar, Eric C. Chizmar, Benjamin C. Sparr, and Kate R. Chizmar.
