TED KENDRICK SIMMONS, age 79, of Bel Air, died in Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium on June 19, 2003. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Ira Jackson and Edith Marie Sproul Simmons. During WW II, he worked in the Budd Ammunition Plant in Philadelphia. After the war he attended TriState University, Indiana where he studied engineering. He made use of his engineering studies in his later work as a mathematician’s aid at Aberdeen Proving Ground and later worked as an automotive service manager and in various other sales and public relations fields. His hobbies included playing chess, shooting pool, and ballroom dancing. He enjoyed bowling, attending sports events, going to auctions and yard sales, gardening, and refinishing furniture. One activity which gave him particular pleasure was working with the Shriners’ Clown group. He enjoyed entertaining children and adult patients in hospitals and senior citizens in nursing homes.
Mr. Simmons is survived by three sisters, Thirza E. Herman of Bay Village, Ohio; Thelma A. Gross of Aberdeen; and Ruth G. Palmer of Bel Air.
