Ted Johnson

Ted Johnson, age 79, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on May 25, 2012 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Carl Eric and Mildred Grace Collin Johnson. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he grew up in Atlanta, GA where he graduated from Georgia Tech University and also received a Masters Degree from Drexel University in Electrical Engineering. He worked for many years for Jerrold Electronics in Horsham, PA and also owned and operated his own consulting engineering firm, The Serenics Company, Inc. of Chalfont, PA. He enjoyed gardening, but music was his passion. He loved to play the piano and the organ. He is dearly loved by all his family and will be greatly missed.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ilga Ziedonis Johnson of Bel Air, MD; daughters, Grace J. McManus, Donna L. Johnson and Janice J. Bhambore and her husband, Aravind, all of Bel Air, MD; grandchildren, Bernie F. McManus IV, Abbey E. McManus, Becky M. McManus, Sam C. McManus, Katelyn S. Baill, Heather E. Baill and Sonia S. Bhambore, all of Bel Air, MD. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Robert Edwards of Charlotte, NC; nieces, Carrie Waldrop and Janet Johnson; and nephew, Bobbie Edwards. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Nancy J. Edwards.

Visitation will be held at McComas Funeral Home, P.A. in Bel Air, MD on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 12-1 p.m. Services will follow at 1 p.m. with his brother-in-law, Rev. Dr. Arvids Ziedonis, and niece, Rev. Ruth Ziedonis, officiating. Interment will be at Darlington Cemetery, Darlington, MD.
