Sylvia Moats

March 21, 1930 — October 1, 2013

Sylvia Moats, age 83, of Joppa, MD, passed away on October 1, 2013 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Cherry Grove, WV, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Katie Bennett Arbogast and wife of the late Rembert "Pop" C. Moats. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Mrs. Moats is survived by her sons, James Moats of Jarrettsville and Glen "Bud" D. Moats of Kingsville; daughters, Shirl Boltz of Havre de Grace, Bonnie Gayle Burkins of Aberdeen, Peggy M. Johnson of Edgewood and Lucille Smith of Joppa; brothers, Randolph Arbogast of Cherry Grove, WV and Akie Arbogast of Elkins, WV; sisters, Tiny Simmons of Riverton, WV and Dessie Hedrick of Franklin, WV; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Larry Moats.

Pallbearers will be James Moats, Glen D. Moats, Ray Burkins, Joseph C. Burkins Sr., Joseph C. Burkins Jr. and A. Henry Johnson.
