Sylvia L. Hennessey

SYLVIA L. HENNESSEY, age 65, of Bel Air, MD, died peacefully on July 24. Born in Lenoir, NC, she was the daughter of Donald Folk Campbell Jr. of Lenoir, NC and the late Julia Alice Carlisle Campbell. She graduated from Longwood College in Farmville, VA with a degree in English. Upon graduation, she taught high school in Richmond, VA and managed their yearbook production. When she moved to Bel Air, she changed careers and became involved in business and was the Secretary/Treasurer for Albert Gunther, Inc. After a short retirement, she worked at Sanders Company as a bookkeeper. She was very active in the community, having volunteered at Homestead-Wakefield Elementary, The John Carroll School, Habitat for Humanity, and was a substitute teacher at Harford Day School. She had interests in gardening and cooking and was a member of the Country Garden Club and volunteered at the Flower Mart in Baltimore. A member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, she served on the Altar Guild, and was also a 25 year member of the Maryland Golf and Country Club, as well as, a charter member of the Birthday Group of Bel Air, a group of women who were a tremendous support through her illness. She was a phenomenal mother, wife, and friend. She was friendly and well liked, making everyone she met feel so comfortable that they would share their life history with her.

Mrs. Hennessey is survived by her husband of 31 years, John H. Hennessey Jr. of Bel Air, MD; two daughters, Katherine Carlisle Hennessey of Bel Air, MD and Julia-John Campbell Hennessey of New York, NY; three sisters, Donna Fellers of Lenoir, NC, Rebecca Belk and Kim Ruff, both of Charlotte, NC; two sister-in-laws, Eileen E. Hennessey of Baltimore, MD and Cathy N. Hurd of Severna Park, MD; one brother-in-
law, Stephen M. Hennessey of Baltimore, MD; and mother-in-law, Dorothy E. Hennessey of Brooklyn Park, MD.
