Susan Marie Wesch

Susan Marie Wesch, age 56, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away peacefully on March 19, 2023 after a long, brave battle with cancer. Born in Maspeth, New York, she is the daughter of Arlene (Wachenheim) Barnikel and the late Robert Barnikel and daughter-in-law of Gayle Wesch and the late Harry Wesch. Susan is survived by her husband of 38 years, Wayne Wesch. She worked as a paraeducator with Fallston High School for over thirteen years. Being with those kids was so important to her and being at the school was one of her greatest passions. She was admired and respected by the students and staff. Susan had a wide array of self-taught skills as well as many learned through time spent with her father, including carpentry, upholstery, gardening, landscaping, and painting. She had an incredible touch working around her home, simply making things special and beautiful. Above all, Susan’s priority was caring for and serving her family with unconditional love and support. Anyone who’s life was touched by Susan’s will forever remember her bright smile, contagious laugh, and astounding energy.

In addition to her husband, mother and mother-in-law, Susan is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Wesch, Heather Wesch, Krista (Stephen) Wesch and Corrine (Joshua) Castranda; grandsons, Bennett Castranda and Carter Castranda; brothers, Bobby (Terri) Barnikel, Tom (Roseann) Barnikel and Scott (Kelly) Barnikel; sisters, Laura Barnikel and Diane (Howie) Archer; brothers-in-law, Harry (Gloria) Wesch and Kurt (Barbara) Wesch; and many loving nieces and nephews.
