Susan Kinard
September 18, 1945 – May 6, 2022
Susan Kinard took the final steps of her earthly journey at home in Churchville, MD on May 6, 2022. She was born in York, PA on September 18, 1945, the daughter of the late Robert and Anne Kefauver, and was the loving wife of Richard “Dick” Kinard for the past 56 years.
Susan grew up in Stewartstown, PA and graduated from Kennard Dale High School where she was a cheerleader, enjoyed singing in the chorus and was a member of The Quarter Notes. This small town community allowed her to form lasting relationships with friends and family that she cherished throughout her life. Susan graduated from Goldey-Beacom School of Business, then worked as a secretary at Aberdeen Proving Ground and in the guidance department at The John Carroll School. She was also a member of Stewartstown Presbyterian Church and Churchville Presbyterian Church.
Susan and Dick settled in Harford County, MD where they extended their circle of friends, and raised their daughters. Susan was the first to drop a card or note in the mail or send a text and that was returned in an outpouring of love from family and friends this past year.
Her greatest passion was spending time with family and friends - especially being “Momzie” to her grandchildren. Dancing, playing cards, boating, eating out, family gatherings, watching sports, shopping, attending The Masters, time at White Rock in Ocean City, MD, and vacations to the Outer Banks will always be treasured memories. Her daily routine of walking whether alone or with the many friends she met along the way brought her solace and joy. The sound of her laughter and her cheers could always be heard above the crowd.
In addition to her husband, Richard, Susan is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Kilchenstein and her husband, John of Bel Air, MD and Carmen Pal and her husband Tom, of Newark, DE; six grandchildren, Suzanne, Justin and Elizabeth Pal, Kevin and Ryan Kilchenstein, and Victoria Odom; her brother Mitchell Kefauver and his wife, Joanne; sisters-in-law, Diane Workman, Dawn Kinard and Lynda Kefauver, the wife of her deceased brother, James Kefauver. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins that she held dear to her heart.
The family would like to extend their gratitude for the care Susan received from the staff at Mercy Hospital and infusion center, Dr. Perry and his radiation team, and Gilchrist Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stewartstown Presbyterian Church or Churchville Presbyterian Church.
