Steven Thomas McDonald
Age 69, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on January 11, 2025. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Steve was the beloved son of the late Herbert and Margaret (Petersen) McDonald and the devoted husband of 41 years to Bonnie (Monaghan) McDonald. Steve proudly served his community as a Sergeant with the Baltimore County Police Department, retiring after 23 years of dedicated service. In retirement, he embraced his passions, including boating, crabbing, fishing, and taking meticulous care of his yard. He had a love for life’s simple joys, such as trips to the beach with his family and going to the gym with his friends.
Above all, Steve was a family man. He took immense pride in caring for his loved ones and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His warm heart and generous spirit touched everyone he met. Those who had the privilege of knowing Steve knew he loved to connect with people through his story telling.
Steve is survived by his cherished wife, Bonnie, his daughter Kaitlyn Elizabeth Biolzi, her husband Anthony Biolzi, his son Phillip Michael McDonald; and his granddaughter, Giovanna (Gia) Lily Biolzi. He is also survived by his sister, Cathy Haeffner, and his brothers, Robert McDonald, Glenn McDonald, and Jerry McDonald. Through the many achievements he had in his life- the title he was most proud of was Pop-Pop.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Steve’s memory may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
