STEPHEN LEWIS BURDETTE, age 51, of Bel Air, died at University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore, on November 1, 2004. Born in Havre de Grace, he was the son of Lewis Metzler Burdette of Forest Hill and Carol Jane Starr Burdette of Bel Air. He was currently working for Comer Construction where he was an estimator. A devoted lover of Bush River and the Chesapeake Bay, he was a Distinguished Life Member of the Bush River Yacht Club. He served as Commodore of the yacht club in 1985 and became a member of the Chesapeake Commodores Club in 1986. He was also very active in the Bush River Boat Club Holding Corporation serving as its Secretary and President from 1993 to the present time. During his 26 years as a member of the yacht club, he was instrumental in upgrading many of the yacht club facilities. He donated his time to oversee pier replacement, redesign of the swimming pool, reroofing of the club house, and repaving of the parking lots. He was also a member of Mt. Ararat Lodge #44 AF & AM.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Burdette is survived by his wife of 28 years, Susan Melhorn Burdette; a son, Stephen Paul Burdette of Bel Air; a sister, Brenda Warehime of Port Deposit; his grandmother, Dorothy Burdette of Joppa; and his great aunt, Lillian Burdette of Aldino.
