Stephen Emm of Jarrettsville, Maryland, passed away on October 1st, 2023 at the age of 66. After a year-long battle with an undetermined type of aggressive cancer and multiple sessions of various chemotherapy treatments, his battle with cancer finally ended in a draw.
Steve was born on September 8, 1957 to Joseph and Margaret Emm (née Quigley) in Towson, MD. After graduating from Perry Hall High School in 1975, he went on to study Engineering at Essex Community College. From 1976 to 2021, Steve worked for Baltimore County Government in various departments including the Bureau of Engineering where he was a Highway Designer as well as a Water Main Designer. Steve finished a BS degree in Geography & Environmental Planning at Towson University.
Truly blessed with no regrets in life, Steve is survived by his wife and best friend of almost 40 years, Clare Kathleen Emm (née Rydzewski) as well as his two wonderful sons, Kevin Michael Emm and Nicholas Joseph Emm. He is also survived by 1 sister, 4 brothers, and their spouses: Jo-Ann & Mark, Tom & Dina, Rick & Diane, Michael & Madeline, and Carl & Julie. On his wife’s side, Steve has two sisters-in-law, Irene and Dana, 3 brothers-in-law, Ken, David, and Paul (PJ), as well as many other cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Steve and Clare’s wedding reception was actually held during Game 4 of the 1983 World Series featuring the Orioles who would go on to win the title the next day. Steve enjoyed watching the O’s all the way up to the clinching of their division this past September. Steve’s other hobbies included duckpin bowling, softball, darts, gardening, cooking, stock trading, Reatta automobiles, and carpentry. With the help of a friend, Steve built a custom rancher that he and his family have called home for over 30 years.
