STANLEY L. LAYE, SR., age 79. of Churchville, died in Citizens Care Center, Havre de Grace, on May 14, 2004. Born in Street, he was the son of the late Randolph Frederick and Lenora Fadeley Laye, and the husband of the late Margaret Jane Harris Laye. He had worked as a moving inspector for the U.S. Government. A life long resident of Harford County, he was a long time member of Hopewell United Methodist Church where he served as a lay leader. He was involved in the Methodist Men’s Group, was a scout leader and a member of the V.F.W. He served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Enright during WW II. He was a member of the Destroyer Escort Association.
Mr. Laye is survived by four sons, LeRoy Laye of Kentucky; Randy Laye of Port Deposit; Frederick D. Laye of Bel Air; John H. Laye of Churchville; one daughter, Barbara Mae Laye of Pylvesville; one brother, Donald Laye of Havre de Grace; three sisters, Sadie Storath of Havre de Grace; Doris Babec of Churchville; Evelyn Rodia of Havre de Grace; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Ernest Rodia, Stanley Roadia, Randy Laye, Bob Lamb, and William Laye. Honorary pallbearers were: Page Moxley and Lambert Babec.
