SSG Mark Rochetto De Alencar, age 37, of Florida passed away on April 8, 2017 after being wounded in action while serving in Afghanistan. Born in Nuremberg, Germany, he was the son of Joao Roberto De Alencar and Maria Elisa (Rochetto) De Alencar of Cumberland. He was a member of the 1st Battalion 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) assigned to Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. A 1998 Graduate of Joppatowne High School, he was a resident of Edgewood in his teens and 20's. He and his wife, Natasha, both attended school together and later reconnected. She described him as the "most humble and strongest person you will ever meet". Some things he enjoyed included playing soccer and football and going to the shooting range.
SSG De Alencar is survived by his wife Natasha De Alencar; children, Rodrigo, Tatiyana and Marcos De Alencar, Deshawn and Octavia Osborne; sisters, Stephanie Rochetto Wicker De Alencar of Cumberland and Melanie De Alencar McManus and husband, Sean, of Pittsburgh, PA; nieces and nephews, Milan, Alexandre, Ariana and Nathanial Wicker.
