SPURGEON ST. CLAIR HESS, age 89, of Fallston, MD, died on February 5, 2006 at his home. Born in Monkton, MD, he was the son of the late Benjamin Garfield and Lily May Base Hess. He was an active dairy farmer until he was 58 years old, and an employee of Harford County for 22 years before retiring at age 80. Mr. Hess was the husband of the late Margaret Windle Hess, a lifelong Fallston resident, a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Ruritan Club, and a member of the Harford County Farm Bureau. His family said that he was devoted to his family and his best friend was his dog, Zipper.
Mr. Hess is survived by two sons, Donald St.C. Hess, and his wife Susan S. Hess, and Carroll W. Hess, all of Fallston, MD; one brother, Harold B. Hess of Monkton, MD; five grandchildren, Kevin S. Hess, and his wife Charmian, of Fallston, MD, C. John Hess, and his wife Jennifer, of White Hall, MD, and Christopher B. Hess, Matthew S. Hess and Amy C. Hess, all of Fallston, MD; and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas S. Hess and Alexis N. Hess, both of Fallston, MD.
