Specialist Karl M. Kunze

Karl M. Kunze, age 20, of Sound Beach, NY, died on April 23, 2010 in Joppa, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, he is the son of Keith Robert Kunze Sr. and Karen Lynn Kunze of Sound Beach, NY. A 2007 graduate of Joppatowne High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he completed basic training at Ft. Benning, GA. His AIT training was at Ft. Rucker A/A and he currently was with the I-224 Aviation Battalion at APG. He was awarded the Soldier of the Year in 2009, was a Distinguished Honor Graduate at AIT and had recently qualified for Light wheel Vehicle Mechanics School.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers, Keith R. Kunze Jr. and girlfriend, Brittney Rucker, of Edgewood, MD, David A., Seth R., and Joey R. Kunze, all of NY; grandmother, Lorraine Kunze of Forest Hill, MD; aunts and uncles, June and Rod Sipe of Forest Hill, MD, Brenda and Ben Chin of Columbia, MD, Linda Shilling of Parkville, MD, and Sharon Cochran of FL; Godparents, Donna and Christian Kunze; special cousins, Russell, Kathy, Tracy, Tommy and Patty Qualliotine, John Sipe, Steven and Christian Kunze, Eric and Will Chin, Stevie Shilling, Nicole and Jerry Cochran; special friends, First Sgt. Mike Gilbert and wife, Fran, Sgt. Major John Greer and Wife Lisa, Matt Woolmer, Joseph Brush, and Jimmy Adams, Clark Jenson. And many other hundreds of friends. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Christian Kunze Jr.
