Sondra Novo

Sondra Novo, age 72, of Jarrettsville, Maryland, passed away on March 18, 2025. Born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Gabriel and Helen (Sappington) Novo.

Sondra made her home in Jarrettsville for over 40 years, where she became an integral part of the community. Known for her creativity, independence, and sense of humor, she lived life with a passion for nature and the outdoors.

Throughout her life, Sondra's love for animals was evident. She spent many years riding horses and was a devoted advocate for her beloved German Shepherds. She also had a deep affection for bees, dedicating herself to beekeeping, and was a passionate advocate for their protection. In addition, Sondra enjoyed raising chickens, embracing a lifestyle that connected her deeply to the earth.

A true trailblazer, Sondra started her own business, Going to the Dogs, the first mobile pet grooming business in Harford County. Through this business, she not only provided a much-needed service but also built lasting relationships with the people and animals in her community. Her unique sense of style, paired with her warmth and wit, made her a memorable figure to all who knew her.

Sondra will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the many lives she touched through her work, kindness, and love of nature.

Sondra is survived by her nieces, Jessica Gia Novo, Kirsten Novo, and Kendal Swinski; great nephews, August Gabriel Byrne, and Israel Orion Hammon; and sister, Gail Novo.

Visitation will be held under the caring guidance of the family owned and operated McComas Family Funeral Home, Jarrettsville, Maryland on Saturday, March 29, 2025, 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Services to follow.
