Shirley J. Layman

Shirley J. Layman, age 95, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on June 15, 2023, at Brightview Perry Hall in Perry Hall, Maryland. Born in Haines Falls, New York, she was the daughter of the late Newman and Jean (Dolan) Barnes and wife of the late Charles Douglas Layman (Doug). She was a member of Christ Our King Presbyterian Church and an active part of Meals on Wheels for many years. She and a friend met over the years in Myrtle Beach and gathered Christmas gifts for underprivileged children. Shirley was also a host for children of the African Children's Choir for many years. And She loved to find yard sales and enjoyed playing Bridge.
 
Shirley is survived by her sons, Doug (Margie) Layman, and Tim (Claire) Layman; daughters, Deborah Jean ( Ralph) Volk, and Lynda (Jeff) Benjamin; sister, Joyce Gerlak; grandchildren, Dalayna Lloyd, Brett Benjamin, Kelly Reid, Melissa Allen, Jenna & Jesse Volk, Connor, Jake, Jimmy, Ryan & Kyle Layman; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Layla & Laynie Coppola, Lilly & Lola Rose, Sarah & Jason Craft, Cruz & Duke Varnado, Henry Volk, and Isiah Layman.

In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by son, James Layman.
