Shirley Joe Baliko

Shirley Joe (Nutter) Baliko, of Edgewood, Maryland, went to be with the The Lord at 7:05 p.m. on December 23, 2011 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Clarksburg, WV on June 14, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Maggie Dean Nutter and Andy Howard Nutter of Clarksburg, WV. Shirley celebrated her 50th anniversary in August with her husband Alexander Carl Baliko 3rd. Shirley took pride that The Nutter family were some of the original settlers in Maryland in the mid-1600s and Nutter Fort in (Clarksburg) WV in the 1700s.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Nutter and Olen (Buck) Nutter; sisters, Mildred (Boots) Harold, Agnes (Peggy) O'Neil, and Ruby Pecovish; and a son, Thomas J. Cate Jr.

She is survived by sons, Alexander Carl Baliko 4th, his wife Heather and their children Bryce and Allison of Fawn Grove, PA and Alan Frederick Baliko Sr., his wife Kristina and their children Alan Jr., Emily, Brenden, and Miranda of Edgewood, MD; sister, Lillian Roush of Salem, WV; and brother in-law Charles and Sandy Baliko of Fallston, MD. Also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews across the USA.

She was a resident of Harford County since 1971 where she is so fondly remembered by those in the Edgewood Community as a kind and caring lady who was once the crossing guard and school volunteer at Edgewood Elementary School in the 1970s. Until her passing, you would find her sitting on the front or back porch with the children of the neighborhood simply spending time and talking with them. Her hobbies included, craft making, cooking, sewing, gardening, crocheting, fishing with her husband, and doting on her family and friends, especially the kids of the community. The family is so grateful for the outpouring of support from family and friends for this truly special child of God. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Fawn Grove, PA at her son's home.
