Sherry Dyer Smith, age 93, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on August 19, 2012 at her home. Born in Glyndon, MD, she was the daughter of the late Alexius Aloysius and Teresa Melanie Baker Dyer and wife of the late Frederick Nelson Smith Jr. She grew up in Glyndon, MD and later moved to Harford County where she was a resident for 65 years. She graduated from the Institute of Notre Dame High School and Mount St. Agnes College where she earned her Business degree. She was a part owner of Smith Hardware Store in Jarrettsville, MD and was a long time member of both St. Ignatius and St. Margaret Catholic Churches. She was a member of the Legion of Mary at St. Margaret's.
Mrs. Smith is survived by sons, F. Nelson Smith III and wife, Sandy, of Jarrettsville, MD, Timothy D. Smith and wife, Elise, of Bel Air, MD and Alexius D. Smith of Monkton, MD; daughters, Sherry T. Smith, Marian S. Flagler and Elaine S. Baxter and husband, Donald, all of Bel Air, MD, Karen S. Amos and husband, Jonathan, of Fallston, MD and Deborah S. Peroutka and husband, Stephen, of Severna Park, MD; brother, Lex Dyer and wife, Jean, of Baltimore, MD; brother-in-law, Robert Smith of Bel Air, MD; sister-in-law, Betty Adams and husband, Tom, of Bel Air, MD; 27 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Frank Dyer; and sisters, Nancy Leonard, Margaret Bishop and Patricia Smith.
Pallbearers will be Phillip N. Smith, Owen C. Smith, Alexius D. Smith Jr., H. Michael Boyle Jr., Gerard A. Baxter II, Thomas Frederick N. Amos and Patrick S. Cassilly Jr.
