Sherry Tate Bair

April 23, 1952 — April 13, 2025

Sherry Tate Bair, 72, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 13, 2025.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Sherry was the beloved daughter of Shirley (Moulds) Tate and the late Robert L. Tate, and the devoted wife of the late Teddie Bruce Bair. Her warm, adventurous spirit defined a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished family moments.

Sherry began her career at Western Electric in Baltimore, Maryland, where she was honored in the company's annual "Hello Charley" pageant, a popular tradition celebrating employees' personality, poise, and camaraderie, with the coveted title of “Best Legs." This lighthearted accolade reflected her confidence and the warm relationships she built with those around her. Later, her role as a part-time travel agent allowed her family to explore the world together, especially enjoying sunny, tropical destinations to the Caribbean. She also worked alongside her family at B.B. Sales, sharing not only in business but in the deep bonds of family.

Sherry’s greatest joy came from raising her beloved daughter, Jacqueline, and watching her cherished stepsons Bruce and Mark grow up and begin their own families. She found immense satisfaction in spending time traveling with family, whether it be to beach destinations like Ocean City, Maryland, in the summer, or to local ski resorts like Seven Springs, Pennsylvania in the winter. Sherry was also an avid reader, finding calm and peace in a good literary fiction novel.

Spending much of her life living in Ellicott City, Maryland, Sherry made the heartfelt decision to move to Bel Air, Maryland, in her later years to be nearer to Jacqueline, and her precious grandchildren, Logan and Dylan. This move allowed her to be an integral part of their daily lives, from watching them during the work week, to attending school and sporting events and sharing in family dinners. Her presence brought warmth and joy to every gathering, and the memories created during this time became some of the most treasured moments for her family.

A faithful member of Mountain Christian Church in Joppa, Maryland, Sherry carried her faith with grace and gratitude. Her warmth, wit, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline J. (Norman P.) Hardy; stepsons, Bruce B. (Catherine A.) Bair and Mark T. Bair; grandchildren, Nicholas J. (Zoe D.) Bair, Lindsey A. Bair, Annabella G. Bair, Logan J. Hardy, and Dylan P. Hardy.

In addition to her father and husband, Sherry was preceded in death by her sister, Carole H. Robinson.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Cancer LifeNet, a program providing free supportive care to individuals and families facing cancer. Donations can be made online at https://www.umms.org/uch/giving/support-a-cause/support-cancer-lifenet.
