Sherman Dean Kirk, age 63, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on September 5, 2023, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. Born in Havre de Grace, Maryland, he was the son of Harold Kirk and the late Betty (Atwood) Kirk and the loving husband of Janis Gail Kirk for 43 years. Sherman was a member of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office for 35 years and served at Level and Fallston Volunteer Fire companies. While at Level, Sherman received both the EMT and fighter of the year awards in the same year. He worked at the Bel Air police Department for seven years as dispatcher and then worked at the County’s emergency services as a 9-1-1 dispatcher. For many years he assisted in new cadet training at Harford County Sheriff’s Office. He loved golf, softball, and bowling at Forest Hill Lanes, where he bowled two, 300 games. Sherman was a storyteller who loved to laugh, aggravate his wife and was ready to help friends in need.
In addition to his wife, Sherman is survived by his aunt Lorene Darnell; cousins: Robin Bowen (Jim), Linda Arnold (Jerry), Arnold Darnell (Steva), Jimmy Darnell, Lynette Flick (David), P-nut Michel, JoAnn Legano, Becky Michel, Monique Michel, Bob Miller (Jennifer); in-laws Dean and Carolyn Youngberg; sisters-in-law: Linda Solow (Ken), Karen Kilby (Dave), and Donna Amoroso (Dom), as well as many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his loving pets: Bandit, Smokey, Cletus, Buford, and Carrie.
