Sgm John Sams (Us Army Ret.)

SGM. JOHN “SARGE” SAMS (US ARMY RET.), age 61, of Edgewood, MD, died on April 8, 2006 at his home. Born in Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of the late Lloyd Walker and the late Emma England Anderson. He was a 24-year veteran of the US Army and the recipient of a Bronze Star for his service in the Vietnam conflict. After retiring from the Army, he worked for Tritronics for 18 years. He was a member of the Edgewood American Legion, the Abingdon VFW and the Retired Sergeant Major Association. His family said that he loved animals, especially his cats, and enjoyed spending time with his grandson.

Sgm. Sams is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kathy Lynn Miller Sams of Edgewood, MD; two sons, Brian K. Sams, and his wife, Lisa A. Sams, of Darlington, MD and Kevin B. Sams, and his wife, Karena L. Sams, of Abingdon, MD; one sister-in-law, Cindy Adams of Indianapolis, IN; and one grandson, Gabriel N. Sams of Abingdon, MD.
