Scott Allan Gromacki, age 59, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on February 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 19, 1996, in Wichita Falls, Texas, he was the son of Gerald and Patricia (Tomala) Gromacki.
Scott was a proud U.S. Marine, serving from 1985 to 1993. He started a family and built distinguished career in finance, beginning as a trader in Saint Louis, Missouri; where he and Kathi had Alex. Before joining KeyBank in Ohio as a proprietary trader; where Emma was born. He later moved to Maryland and the twins, Nick and Kate, were born where he spent 16 years at Campbell & Company, rising to the role of Manager of Overnight Trading, overseeing execution on the Asian and European shifts for one of the world’s oldest and largest CTAs. In 2017, he and his wife, Kathi, opened The Nest on Main Bel Air LLC, where Scott managed the finances and humorously referred to himself as the business’s “not-so-handyman.”
Scott had a passion for teaching and mentoring. He began as a professor at Goucher College before joining Loyola University Maryland, where he spent six years as an Affiliate Professor of Finance. His love for learning was evident in the way he eagerly shared newspaper articles, scientific journals, and book recommendations with family and friends.
An avid outdoorsman and athlete, Scott maintained a rigorous fitness routine that included strength training, running, cycling, and swimming. He enjoyed white-water rafting, skiing, and kayaking, and was deeply involved in coaching and volunteering for the Boy Scouts. He also had a deep appreciation for the arts, music, fine food, wine, whiskey, and craft beer.
Scott and Kathi, his wife of 35 years, shared a love for travel and most recently enjoyed a Viking trip to France. He was a devoted father who never missed a game or tournament—whether it was football, lacrosse, field hockey, or track, he was always there on the sidelines cheering. He also cherished bringing family and friends together for game nights filled with laughter and competition.
Scott is survived by his beloved wife, Kathi Gromacki; his children, Alexandra, Emma, Nicholas, and Kate Gromacki; his siblings, Denise Greene, Andrew Gromacki, and Gerald Gromacki; and many dear friends and colleagues.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Bel Air, the National Greyhound Association, the Boy Scouts of America, or Maryland State Parks.
Scott will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his sharp intellect, his adventurous spirit, and his ability to bring people together.
