Scott Dana Smith

November 28, 1966 — April 28, 2015

Scott Dana Smith, 48, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on April 28, 2015 at his home. Born in Towson, MD, he is the son of Sarah Smith of Bel Air. During his childhood, he was in both the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts in Bel Air, played Little League Baseball and participated in a Youth Bowling League. He graduated in 1984 from Bel Air High School where he participated in football and track. He then attended Harford Community College where he played soccer. He received his Bachelors in Business from Springfield College in Massachusetts where he ran track, and received his Masters in teaching from The College Notre Dame of Maryland. He had been an elementary school teacher for nearly 18 years. An avid Ravens and Orioles fan, Scott worked in youth summer camps and umpired Little League Baseball in Harford County. He also participated in Monday night Swing Dance and ran marathons and half marathons. He trained other runners, such as Team in Training (who raises funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society), and a female running team, The Red Devils. He was quick witted and fun loving and helpful in every way. He was generous with his time and talents and had been recognized as one of Harford County's Most Beautiful People for his volunteer work.

In addition to his mother, Scott is survived by his sister, Teri Smith of Ocoee, FL; aunt, Catherine Holland of Reisterstown MD; cousins, Gary Holland of Atlanta, GA and Christopher Holland and wife, Aerial, of Reisterstown MD; and a host of other relatives and friends.
