Sarah Thompson Necker

January 17, 1919 — December 2, 2005

SARAH THOMPSON NECKER, age 86, of Forest Hill, died on December 2, 2005 at Rock Spring Village. Born on January 17, 1919 in Iola, Allen County, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Rev. J. Edmund Thompson and Ella Mindwell Olcott Thompson. She was the wife of the late Joseph H. Necker, Sr. whom she married on June 14, 1944. She was a retired postal clerk in Edgewood, and a member of Christ Episcopal Church for 76 years. In October, 2005 the church presented her with a certificate recognizing her many contributions that included being one of the first two women elected to the vestry, serving as assistant treasurer for over 20 years; serving as a member of the Altar Guild and head of the Altar Guild for 40 years; serving as secretary, president and treasurer of the Episcopal Church Women, having been in the last capacity for 30 years, and also serving as an usher and oblationist. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Aberdeen, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Genealogical Society of Harford County.

Mrs. Necker is survived by two sons, Joseph H. Necker, Jr., and his wife Susanne Smith Necker of Houston, TX, and David T. Necker of Perry Hall; two sisters, her twin sister Alice Smalley Skwarek of Rocky Hill, CT, and Ruth Moncure of Rockville; four grandchildren, Jennifer Necker Wiggins of Columbia, SC, Andrew Joseph Necker of St. Helena Island, SC, Alexander David Necker of Middletown, DE, and Roberta Sarah Necker of Baltimore; and two great grandsons, Corin Wiggins of Columbia, SC, and Evan Necker of St. Helena Island, SC.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Necker was predeceased a brother, J. Edmund Thompson, Jr., and a sister, Margaret Bridges.

The Pallbearers will be Andrew J. Necker, Alexander D. Necker, Brandon L. Wiggins, Jimmy Lien, William A. Fertig, and Ronald E. Garvin.
