Sandra Lee Hughes

Sandra Lee Hughes (nee Donald) of Jarrettsville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Sandy was the daughter of the late Robert Donald and Margaret Donald (nee Fraser). She was the beloved wife of the late Franklin Woodrow Hughes, Sr. Sandy was the youngest of eleven children. She loved her Scottish Heritage, both Mom and Dad were born in Scotland. The Donald house was always filled with kids, the sound of bagpipes, shortbread, and tatty soup, amongst other delicacies. Sandy loved holidays where everyone was together celebrating, laughing and having fun. 

 After many years of employment, Sandy retired from the Harford County School System. Sandy enjoyed her retired life devoting much of her time to her family, friends and Bethel Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member. Sandy enjoyed helping with fundraisers, Sunday School and always willing to help with a smile, she also attended the Bible Study group at Bethel. In addition, she was a member of the social club at the Highlands Presbyterian Church in Street, Maryland. 

Sandy is survived by her daughter, Jennifer L. Daughton, and a grandson, Malcolm F. Daughton. as well as many cousins in Scotland, and numerous nieces and nephews in Maryland. Sadly, in addition to her late husband, Sandy lost her son Franklin W. Hughes, Jr. 

 Sandy's kind heart, Christian spirit, and unwavering love for her family and friends will be deeply missed. May she rest in peace.

A celebration of life memorial will be held on January 18th at Bethel Presbyterian Church. Services will begin at 11:00am.
