Sandra D. "Sandy" Bent, of Churchville, Maryland, passed away on April 15, 2024, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland.
Born in Havre de Grace, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Howard Caudill and Marlene (Hall) Bergerson and the loving wife of Raymond Bent.
Sandy dedicated many years in her life as a hairdresser, bringing joy and confidence to countless clients. More recently, she was instrumental in helping her husband purchase and succeed in business at Walter G. Coale, Inc. She readily dedicated her life to caring for all of the elders in her family. Sandy always put her family first and her husband would always say “they don’t make them like her anymore”.
A deeply compassionate soul, Sandy was a life member of the former Calvary United Methodist Church in Churchville. She was actively involved in the PTA at Churchville Elementary School and with all school functions, nurturing and supporting the educational journey of her children. She was also a proud Den Mother.
Sandy's kindness extended beyond human relationships; she was an avid animal lover and devoted much of her time to rescuing strays. Her passion for nurturing extended to her hobbies, which included canning with her grandmother, cooking, baking, sewing, and enjoying classic movies, music and writing poetry. Sandy also enjoyed playing card games with family and friends. Her nurturing nature carried over into caring for her family heirlooms with pride. Sandy had a keen eye for treasures and enjoyed antiquing as well.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Raymond Bent; her daughter, Vanessa Rae Bent; her son, Jason Eric (Amanda) Bent; her sister, Elizabeth (Tara) Caudill-Ryan; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Caudill and Marlene Bergerson, and her sister, Nancy Lee Roach.
