Sally Burchette Isom, age 90, of Bel Air, MD passed away on December 20, 2017 at her home. Born in Galax, VA, she was the daughter of Oscar Wallace and Ruby Dot (Bartlett) Welch and was the wife of the late Robert Blaine Burchette Sr. and Boss Dan Isom. She was a long time member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and a former member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Aberdeen where she was involved with the bereavement committee. From installing control panels in aircraft on assembly lines during World War II to her years greeting customers at BJ’s in Abingdon, Sally worked hard all her life and instilled the values of determination, grit, and self-reliance in her children and grandchildren. She was an amazing southern cook; her cornbread and tomato dumplings were legendary. She loved her church and her family, especially the five newest great-grandchildren born in 2016. She will be buried next to her first husband Robert Burchette.
Mrs. Isom is survived by two daughters, Nina Heck-Russell of Bel Air and Regina Pasini (Harold) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; son, Robert B Burchette Jr. (Luanne) of Baltimore; brother, James "Jake" K. Welch of Ft. Mill, SC; grandchildren, David Weldon, Kenneth Hamby Jr., Ashleigh Brock, Kerri Weitzel, Megan Hoffman, and Heather Russell; and great grandchildren, Bethany Spears, Karsen Weldon, Hudson Hoffman, Guinnevere and Layla Weitzel, Emma and Hannah Brock.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patsy Stowell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), 5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, AL, 35210.
