SADIE JUANITA NORMAN, age 65, of Aberdeen, MD, died on October 10, 2007 at Stella Maris Hospice, Timonium, MD. Born in Hickory, NC, she was the daughter of the late Fred Elmore and Sadie Belle Stillwell Setzer. She was a resident of Harford County for 47 years where she worked as a waitress before she and her husband established their used car dealership, Norman’s Auto Sales, where they worked side by side for over twenty years. Afterwards, she traveled with her husband throughout the country for two years in their tractor trailer. She enjoyed baking cakes and was known as the “cake lady” to many in her community, as well as, the State Police of Benson Barracks, who acknowledged her delectable contributions with formal letters of appreciation. She loved bingo and making patch quilts, and also sang in the church choir.
Mrs. Norman is survived by her husband of forty eight and a half years, Watson Gray Norman of Aberdeen, MD; three children, Patricia Ann Norman-Duvall and her husband, Greg, of Pylesville, MD, Watson Gray Norman Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Aberdeen, MD, and Fred Walter Norman and his wife, Trudie, of Aberdeen, MD; four brothers, Harold Edward “Dick” Setzer, Gary Wayne Setzer, Olin William “Bill” Setzer, and Donald Frank Setzer, all of North Carolina; three sisters, Lillie Elizabeth Setzer Machey, Doris Lucy Setzer Conley, and Wilma Ann Setzer Hefner, all of North Carolina; nine grandchildren, William Norman of Aberdeen, MD, Ross Duvall of Staunton, VA, Nathan Norman of Aberdeen, MD, Corey Duvall of Pylesville, MD, Kristin Norman of Aberdeen, MD, Sara Norman of Aberdeen, MD, Sara Shipley of Aberdeen, MD, Ashton Norman of Aberdeen, MD, and Heather Shipley-Goetzke of Baltimore, MD; one great-grandchild, Adam Goetzke of Baltimore, MD; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by four brothers, Paul Clayton “Bud” Setzer, Robert Elmore “Pood” Setzer, Fred Everette “Ham” Setzer, and Alfred Eli “Joe” Setzer; and one sister, Rebecca Pearl “Becky” Setzer Lutz.
Flowers may be delivered to the church on the day of the service between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. or contributions may be made to the Wesleyan United Methodist Church, Susquehanna Charge Youth Group, c/o Susan Kemen, 722 Athlone Dr., Bel Air, MD 21014.
