Ruthanna Glaze Lehnert, 86, of Havre de Grace, MD passed away on January 17, 2016 at her daughter's home. Born in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Francis Warner Glaze Sr. and Ruthanna (Stringer) Glaze, and the wife of the late Edwin B. Lehnert. During World War II, she served as a volunteer in the WAVES (Women's Branch of the United States Naval Reserve). After graduation from Maryland State Teachers College, Towson, she taught for the Baltimore County Public Schools. While her children were young, she often volunteered at their schools and also served as a Brownie and Girl Scout troop leader. In her later years, she devoted her time as a docent for the Baltimore City Life Museums. Mrs. Lehnert communed at, and was a member of, The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
Mrs. Lehnert is survived by her children, Susan L. Quigley of Harpers Ferry, WV, Julia K. Lehnert of Catonsville, Erich K. Lehnert of Frederick, Gretchen J. Lehnert of Forest Hill, and Sarah L. Renehan of Abingdon; and is also survived by 12 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A Memorial Service will be scheduled by the family at a later date.
