Ruth Vivian Dow

RUTH VIVIAN DOW, age 80, of Bel Air, MD, died on July 22, 2006 at her home. Born in New Bedford, MA, she was the daughter of the late William and Edith Mae DeBettencourt Costa and the wife for 50 years of the late Cyril J. Dow. She was a homemaker and a Harford County resident for 37 years. Her family said that she gave to many charities and that she enjoyed cooking, sewing, and knitting. Her children and her grandchildren were the love of her life.

Mrs. Dow is survived by two sons, Kevin W. Dow of Bel Air, MD and Steven M. Dow of Lumberton, NC; two daughters, Kathy A. Dow of Bel Air, MD and Laurie E. Koontz of Walkersville, MD; one brother, William N. Costa of Martha’s Vineyard, MA; one sister, Eleanor Luiz of Acushnet, MA and seven grandchildren, Jeremy M. Dow of Ocean City, MD, Candice M. Dow, Michael A. Dow, Jr., and Christina L. Dow, all of Bel Air, MD, Austin J. Dow of Lumberton, NC, Savannah R. Koontz of Walkersville, MD and Ryan A. Dow of Lumberton, NC.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Michael A. Dow, Sr.

Pallbearers were Austin J. Dow, Kevin W. Dow, Stephen C. Koontz, William N. Costa, Michael A. Dow, Jr. and Jeremy M. Dow.
