Ruth Veronica Cooper, age 90, of Abingdon, MD, died on October 30, 2009 at her home. Born in Jersey City, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Lillian McCoy Duncan. She was the owner and operator of a luncheonette. Mrs. Cooper is survived by her daughter, Lillian Cohen of Abingdon, MD, who expressed "My mother was everything to me. She was there years ago when I had two small children and she moved in with me and helped raise my two children. She helped to manage my home with clothes and meals. She lived with me until my children went to college and then she lived her life, and then came back to me for me to take care of her the last 12 years."
In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Cooper is survived by five grandchildren, Ruth Dante of Jackson, NJ, John Bryant of Forest Hill, MD, Michael and Jacqueline Cooper, both of Las Vegas, NV, and Edwin Cooper of West Palm Beach, FL; and great grandchildren, Ryan and Amanda Bryant, both of Forest Hill, MD, Michael Dante of Jackson, NJ, Kaitlyn and Sara Cooper, both of Las Vegas, NV, and Chase and Hannah Cooper, both of Florida.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cooper was predeceased by her great-grandchild, Alex Bryant; sisters, Muriel Nobel and husband, Gibbie, Gertrude Schmidt and husband, Louis, and Margie Grace; and cousins, Charles Winterhaulter and wife, Grace, Josephine Winterhaulter and Vincent Winterhaulter and wife, Kay.
