Ruth T. "Dobby" Brown, age 85, of Bel Air, MD, entered into eternal life January 15, 2011 at her home at Victorian Estates surrounded by her family. Born in Nathans Creek, NC, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Everett and Maude Johnson Thompson, and wife, for 48 years, of the late Hanlon P. Brown. For over 40 years, she owned and operated along with her husband, Brownies Motel and Restaurant in Hickory and the Wyndemede Christmas Tree Farm, where she was known as the cookie lady. They sold thousands of trees to the residents of Harford County over the years. Ruth embraced the gift of life with elegance, extravagance and hospitality. She enjoyed photography, cooking, gardening and traveled extensively with her husband. She lived six months in Dauphin, PA where above all else she treasured each moment with her grandchildren, and the other six months in Key West, FL., where she was an active member of the Key West Women's Club and was an honorary member of the Conch Republic. She was a beloved member of Mt. Carmel Primitive Baptist Church where her father, Elder Floyd E. Thompson ministered and laid the foundation for Ruth's legacy of faith, grace and love. She was also an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution
Ruth is survived by her beloved family. A daughter, Kathleen B. Robinson; grandchildren, Jennifer Ruth Robinson and Shane Hanlon Robinson; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her brother Roger Thompson and her sister Grace Stringer.
