Ruth R. Heaps

Ruth R. Heaps, age 88, of Bel Air, MD passed away on February 21, 2016 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air. Born in Purdy, VA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Albert Radogna and Sarah Anne (Gregory) Radogna and wife of the late Charles William Heaps Sr. In 1982 she retired from the Harford County Public Schools where she was a Special Education teacher for 32 years. She started her career with the Harford County Public Schools by helping to open North Harford High School in 1950 and then Bel Air Middle School in 1970 (now Southampton Middle School). She was an avid reader, an excellent painter, accomplished gardener and enjoyed needlework especially counted cross-stitching. She enjoyed going to the beach with the girls, going out with The Lunch Bunch, going to the mountains with her husband and spending time with her grandkids. She also volunteered for many years with the AMC Cancer Research Center.

Mrs. Heaps is survived by her son, Charles W. Heaps Jr. "Chip" and his wife Patricia of Churchville; her sister, Virginia Sacco of Rockville; and her grandchildren, Charles W. Heaps III "Chad" and Lindsay Heaps Warren.
