Helen Ruth Magness Vaught, age 86, of Bel Air, MD died on April 4, 2015 at home. Born in Emmorton, MD, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Helen Everitt Magness and wife, for 54 years, of the late Thomas C. Vaught, Sr. She graduated from Bel Air High School in 1945. She worked as a teller for Commercial & Savings Bank in Bel Air and as a bookkeeper for Standard Equipment, Inc. a family-owned steel manufacturing business for 35 years. After the business closed, she worked as a bookkeeper for Richardson's Florist until retirement. She had a passion for accounting and volunteered in the financial office at Mountain Christian Church where she was a lifelong member and the church her late father, Albert Magness, helped build. She volunteered serving as the treasurer for Indian Lake Camp, a Christian Summer Camp in Darlington, MD. Ruth also volunteered at the Upper Chesapeake Hospital Gift Shop one day a week.
Mrs. Vaught is survived by four children; a son, Thomas Charles Vaught, Jr. and three daughters, Ruthann DeMan, Barbara Vaught and fiancé, Niles Jones, and Patricia Holbrook. Ruth has four grandchildren, Eileen DeMan and her fiancé, Mark Holmes, Jennifer and her husband, Anthony Stanfield, Kristi and her husband, Nick Nowak and Rachel and her husband, Tyler Grau; and seven great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Jacob, Jayden, Danica, Victoria, Owen and Ireland.
When Ruth was a young adult she was a 4-H Leader. She was a lifelong member of Mountain Christian Church where she taught Sunday school and volunteered with Summer Vacation Bible School. Ruth also enjoyed time spent with Christian friends through her Faith Circle and The Pearls of Wisdom Group which met on Saturday mornings. She loved the beach and spent summer days vacationing at Bethany Beach. Her winters were spent in Florida playing cards, swimming and relaxing with friends and family.
Pallbearers will be Isaiah DeMan, Jacob DeMan, Jayden Stanfield, Anthony Stanfield, Tyler Grau, Mark Holmes, Niles Jones and Nick Nowak.
