Ruth M. Sharrock

December 13, 1920 — June 12, 2006

RUTH M. SHARROCK, age 85, of Bel Air, MD, died on June 12, 2006 at Harford Memorial Hospital. Born in Bryan, OH, she was the daughter of the late Howard S. and Pearl Marie Jones Maneval, and the wife of the late Robert E. Sharrock. She was a homemaker who was a recipient of Maryland’s “Geri” Award as a Maryland Distinguished Volunteer and appointed to the Maryland Senior Citizen’s Hall of Fame in 1996. She was a founding member of the P.E.O., Chapter Q. As a volunteer for many years with the American Red Cross, she worked primarily in the Blood Pressure Screening Program. She was a member of the A.P.G. Officer’s Wives Club and sang in the Officer’s Wives Chorus. She served as Past President and Trustee for the Lady Board of Managers at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center. She was a member, since 1963, of Christ our King Presbyterian Church in Bel Air, a founding member of the church choir and served as a church elder.

Mrs. Sharrock is survived by one son, Robert Earl Sharrock, M.D. of Bryan, OH; one daughter, Kristine Ruth Holmes of Ellicott City, MD; three sisters, Margaret Shook of Bryan, OH, Catherine Fifer of Hamilton, IN and Frances Green of Largo, FL; six grandchildren, Dr. Carolyn Sharrock-Dorsten, D.P.M. of Bryan, OH, Dr. Robin Sharrock-Mills, M.D. of Ft. Wayne, IN, Emily Harrington of Columbus, OH, Megan Holmes of Pasadena, MD, and Erin Holmes and Todd Holmes, both of Ellicott City, MD; and one great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christ out King Presbyterian Church, 10 Lexington Road, Bel Air, MD 21014.
