Ruth K. Morlok, age 90, of Aberdeen, MD passed away on February 20, 2013 at her home. Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Edward Valentine Kern and Lena Wolfe Kern and wife of the late Christian F. Morlok Sr. She retired in 1985 from Sherwin Williams Paint Store in Bel Air after 22 years of service, and was a long time worshipper, Sunday School teacher and Ladies Guild member at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Aberdeen prior to her illness. After retirement, she and Chris traveled extensively in their camper, from New England to California and Florida to Alaska, accompanied by the dachshund, Hilda. She was also a long time, active member of the Aberdeen Golden Age Club, and enjoyed gardening, planting and canning vegetables for the family to eat all year. She also enjoyed craft work and often sold them at craft shows. She enjoyed serving at Martha's Meals alongside of her husband, Chris, for many years.
Mrs. Morlok is survived by her sons, C. Frederick Morlok Jr. and wife, Margaret and David G. Morlok and wife, Nancy both of Aberdeen; grandchildren, Christian F. Morlok III and Jeffrey Morlok of Aberdeen, Leocea McLanahan and husband Kenny of Conowingo, Ian David Morlok of Havre de Grace and Matthew Morlok and wife, Pam of Bel Air; nine great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Doran Kern; and numerous nieces, nephews and scores of friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Edward Kern Jr. and George Kern Sr.
Pallbearers will be Ian Morlok, Matt Morlok, Chris Morlok III, Jeffrey Morlok, Kenneth McLanahan Jr. and KC McLanahan III.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 201 Mt. Royal Avenue, Aberdeen, MD 21001.
