Ruth Jean Rowland

Ruth Jeanette Rowland (Jean), daughter of the late Lonnie Cheek and Ruth Crouse Cheek, was born on November 23, 1932 and departed this life on February 29, 2016 making her stay on earth 83 years.
She united in marriage to Clarence Edward Rowland on February 24, 1949. Unto this union was born three children, Richard S. Rowland of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Robin L. Rowland of St. Petersburg, FL and Regina L. Gibson of Forest Hill, MD.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years and survived by her three children and three grandchildren, Michael J. Tama, Jr. of Bel Air, MD, William B. Gibson III of Delta, PA and Jacob R. Gibson of Forest Hill, MD, along with her son-in-law William Gibson II of Forest Hill, MD; her sisters, Delores Williams of Harrington, DE, Wanda Keith of Independence, VA, Shirlene Moffett of Mountain City, TN and her brother Larry Cheek of Bel Air. MD. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by siblings, Otis Cheek, Edna Stamper, Lucille Hincher and Elva Bachman.

Jean was retired from the Dublin Grange Day Care Center and founding director. She was a member of the Mountain Union Baptist Association and a member of the Auburn Regular Baptist Church. She was a lifelong resident of Harford County.

Jean was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. "What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear. What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer." In loving memory of our mother and grandmother.
