Ruth Irwin, aged 85, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on April 14, 2024, at Commonwealth Senior Living at Bel Air in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late John Weber and Cora (Deveaux) Pencek and wife of Leon E. Irwin for 63 years. Ruth dedicated over 15 years of her life in service to Harford County Government, retiring in 2003.
Ruth was known for her vibrant spirit and her love for life. She found joy in simple pleasures, particularly her passion for shopping, with QVC being a favorite haunt. Yet, her greatest joy came from spending time with her beloved family. She cherished moments baking with her grandchildren, tending to her garden, canning, and caring for her cherished pets.
Ruth is survived by her loving husband, Leon E. Irwin, her devoted sons, Paul (Patricia) Irwin and Eric Irwin, and daughter, Tina (Doug) Hinkle. She leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth to her grandchildren: Ashley Irwin, Courtney (Jared) Cox, Ethan Irwin, and Douglas Hinkle. Her sister, Mary Hankin, will continue to hold her memory dear. Ruth's life was also enriched by the presence of her stepbrother, William Weber, and stepsisters, Lynn Young and Carolyn Stocktill.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her brother, John Weber, and sister, Cora “Bootsie” Dyba.
In honor of Ruth's memory, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Harford County Child Advocacy Center, 23 N. Main Street, Bel Air, MD 21014
